Four decades ago, the LeDain Commission similarly called for an end to the criminal prohibition of cannabis. Who's leading the way? Those aged 55 to 64. Why? Yes, there are a lot of old hippies. But of all the age cohorts, the middle-aged and elderly, the late-boomers are learning faster than most that marijuana may be the Aspirin of the 21st century.

A new poll suggests Canada may have reached the tipping point and a 66-per-cent majority favours legalizing marijuana.

Legalizing soft drugs would allow that industry to get out of the black market, just as the abolishment of prohibition did in the United States in 1933.

Legalizing pot would also eliminate a great deal of the crime and corruption linked to that sector of our economy. In an illicit market, by definition, you cannot have any laws to regulate the exchange of goods. Violence and bribery are the usual ways of resolving conflict.

My band mate wanted me to go shopping with him in Montreal. We drove down to Italmelodie on Jean Talon & Henri Julien in front of the big Market .. this is a great store and I hadn't been there for a dozen years Gary was looking for a compressor for his bass and a tuner. He also bought a 2 guitar stand a Shure sm58 microphone and some cables .. following my plan for the day I bought some picks... but I was seduced by a piece of hardware designed for computer recording.

It looked like a little mixer with buttons knobs and lights, and I was finally gonna get a real digital recording interface. After gazing at walls of guitars basses for a bit more, I went back and bought the little YAMAHA mixer. Once HOME I set it up beside my Peavey PV8 Mixer ran the included USB cable into the pc tower..bingo the lights came on. I transferred the guitar jack and the`mic cable to the digi-mixer and was ready to test 1 2 into the mike. I still had to go in and set the audio card control to use the USB drivers and I was recording on my copy of Cool Edit.

For 139$cdn I bought the best new piece for my budgetstudio. It's made my recordings clearer and louder the compression is very useful I can bang away on the Fender and my speakers don't snap crackle or pop. If you are into Podcasting this tool and a good microphone and cables are all you need to record CD quality projects. You can read what others are saying about The AUDIOGRAM 6 below.

Laid out like a mixer and so not have cables coming out from the front. USB powered, which is one cable less, and the ability to control DAW output while listening to live input. Yes, this thing works perfectly, yes, this thing is quite well priced for all the features, and yes, I would buy it again if something happened to it. Now, as for why I specifically love THIS interface- it's the best in its range, bar none, in my opinion. Sound quality is something that you can't put into your spec sheet, and this thing has it in spades. Other interfaces don't often have the smooth as silk sound that mine does. Another winner for me is the layout and appearance of this device- it simply looks sexy, and it's entirely intuitive to use. But the number one thing that sells me on the Audiogram? I've taken to calling it the "Wizard"- it's that one-knob compression. It is genius. It makes my recordings sound like I spent way more money on equipment than I did. Everytime I use it, I cannot help but wonder why on earth someone think of it before. The software is take it or leave it- I couldn't get it to register online, so I had to stop using it, but I liked it while I had it, it's just simplistic. I highly recommend this product.

Subscribing to the internet could mean that I click on the news I want.... ha ha that's normal.... you can always change the TV channel too ..hear about the would be presidential candidate Mitt Romney

At a campaign stop in Iowa, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney told an audience, “corporations are people.”

The remark was hardly a misstep -- Romney persisted in arguing his case that corporations ARE people because corporate profits end up "in the pockets" of people.

Of course some corporate profits end up in the pockets of an ever-shrinking number of people who control an ever-growing portion of our nation's wealth... and some end up going to SuperPACs like the ones that are collecting massive corporate donations to support Romney’s campaign. Simply put, corporations are not people, and should not be treated as or afforded the same rights as people under the law.

Tell Mitt Romney he's way off track. Corporations aren't people, and he should retract his comment.

It was a slow start with GRB2011 I was with the JoJo's with a full card making money playing the iNN Rawdon and the Vic .. but in April she fired me over the phone ... so I started seriously with Gary and Plume once or twice a week. Gary bought Mike's old SoundSystem and the combination of my monitors made the sound much better. We did a few shows in the Garage and in August we got a weekend at the Vic ... but there was a problem and we got canned .. still we managed to book into theiNN at Rawdon with Alain Lacaille on drums.... I had a cold and we only drew 27 people bad news ... but we recovered and continued practicing with Plume and Lacaille sometimes twice a week ... things started to gel.

Problem was that Lacaille had other commitments and could only come in from Montreal 2 times a month. In November Robert Forget contacted me to say thet the JoJo's fired him too, and to ask me if I had any work ... I invited him over to the locale and we started a series of twice a week meetings that gave us the rehearsal time we needed to progress at a faster pace .. Some weeks leading up to the Holidays, Gary and I shared 3 drummers @ 4hr sessions. Our choice as Robert for the working drummer was easy seeing how dedicated he was to the project, and he's a reliable as a drummer and a person. We worked 2 years with the other group and always made $$ so we'll be doing more in 2012.

No it's not a weather report and I like the rain, but clear skies mean colder temps as we go down to 7°c overnite. It won't be freezing on my hill because the ambiant temperature is influenced by the °c of the mass of water below.

Better yet.. two days ago... the top half of a hundred year old maple came crashing down in a 90kmh gust of wind slid along the sde of the roof taking branches of other tall trees before planting itself in the hill next to the house. Nothing was broken and again the property survived with good fortune. Yesterday I hired a young man to section the fallen wood with his chainsaw. I pitched the logs up the hill using my 12ft old wooden ladder to step down the lower half of the embankment. I corded the cut pieces and left a lot of sticks to be cut by hand saw. The remaining smaller branches were tossed on the side of the hill to protect from erosion. There is more wood to pitch or drag up the hill and I will get to it whenever. 2 maybe 3 cords of hardwood to split.

So now the morning sun fills the garden which is a blessing itself... we'll track the sun today to see how it affects the daylight in our yard.

C'est une excellente idée!

Je ne sais pas pour vous, mais moi je suis fatigué de payer ces prix
exorbitants pour l'essence. Voilà ce qu'il faudrait faire.

CE N'EST PAS DE « NE PAS ACHETER » DE L'ESSENCE POUR UNE JOURNÉE,

Mais d'obtenir que le prix de l'essence redescendre à 0,99 $ LE LITRE.

Ce courriel a été envoyé par un dirigeant à la retraite de Coca Cola. Cette
idée venait d'un de ses copains ingénieurs qui a quitté Halliburton.

Si vous êtes fatigué des prix de l'essence qui augmentent et ils vont
continuer à augmenter cet été, prenez le temps de lire ceci s'il vous plaît.

Phillip Hollsworth a eu cette bonne idée.
Cela a BEAUCOUP plus de sens que le « ne pas acheter d'essence à un certain
jour » campagne qui était autour d'avril ou mai dernier!

d'ici cet été et ça pourrait aller plus haut!

MAIS, celui qui a pensé a cette idée, a mis au point un plan qui peut
vraiment marcher.

À présent, vous pensez probablement que l'essence à environ 0,99 $ le litre
serait raisonnable. Moi aussi!

Le prix est actuellement de 1,38 $ chez Sunoco et ESSO pour ordinaire sans
plomb à Hamilton et à Ottawa,

1.35 $ et plus à Montréal, et Trois-Rivières, et l'escalade des prix a la
hausse se fera chaque semaine.

Maintenant que les compagnies pétrolières et les pays de l'OPEP nous ont
conditionnés à penser que le coût d'un litre d'essence

est bon marché à 0,87 $ à 0,99, nous devons prendre des mesures énergiques
pour leur apprendre que les acheteurs contrôlent le marché.

PAS les vendeurs ..

Avec le prix de l'essence qui augmente chaque jour davantage, nous, les
consommateurs on doit prendre des mesures.

La seule façon que nous allons voir le prix de l'essence en baisse est de
frapper là ou ça fait mal, dans leurs poches

En n'achetant pas leur essence! Et, nous pouvons le faire sans nous faire mal.

Comment? Étant donné que nous comptons tous sur nos voitures, nous ne
pouvons pas arrêter d'acheter de l'essence.
Mais nous pouvons avoir un impact sur les prix de l'essence si nous agissons
tous ensemble pour forcer une guerre des prix.

Voici l'idée : Pour le reste de cette année, n'acheter plus d'essence des
deux plus grandes entreprises (qui sont maintenant un), Sunoco (Petro
Canada) et ESSO. S'ils ne vendent pas d'essence du tout, ils seront enclins
à réduire leurs prix.

Si elles réduisent leurs prix, les autres sociétés devront emboîter le pas.

Mais pour avoir un impact, nous avons besoin d'atteindre littéralement des
millions d'acheteurs d'essenceDe Sunoco (Petro Canada) et de ESSO. C'est très simple à faire!
Maintenant, ne vous dégonflez pas ...

Continuez de lire et je vais vous expliquer comment il est simple de
rejoindre des millions de personnes!

Si chacun de nous envoie ce courriel à au moins dix personnes et que ces
autres dix l'envoie à dix autres personnes

(10 x 10 = 100) ... et ces 100 l 'envoie à au moins dix de plus (100 x 10 =
1000) ... et ainsi de suite,

Au moment où le message atteint le sixième groupe de personnes, nous aurons
atteint plus d'un MILLION de consommateurs.

Si ce million de personnes transmettent ce message à dix amis chacun, 10
millions de personnes auront été contactées!

Steve's take on the Campaign 2011 French Debate

Four Million watched Tuesday's English debate not me .. I watched the french debate last nite. It was quite informative and the moderators kept up the pace by taking questions from Quebecers addressed to the debators. The prime minister looked nervous answering few of the questions directed his way. He preferred the safety of the keywords: economy, stability, majority. He looked robotic and stiff, I was not impressed and kinda relieved that he looked like his goose was cooked.

One Harper quote I agree with was that the conservatives have nothing in common with the other parties. That's an understatement for sure, but one thing stood out again how the libs and cons are both proponents of a large standing army .... The NDP prefers a stay at home army. Who wants to raise taxes? the only party repeating we won't raise taxes was the minority governement leader. The NDP and Liberals had social plans I could identify with but the conservatvives have nothing for me.. I like the NDP idea of getting tough with the banks they are way too expensive.

I don't like the F35 airplane. I know I'll never ride in one nor will it protect me from a natural disaster or evil aliens. Why spend all that money? I don't like the idea building prisons to lock up people for even longer stiffer terms .. crime is going down in Quebec.. need more room? let out those non violent types locked up for fines and dealing pot. and on the subject of POT .. no mention of the stuff.. still taboo ..

So what about the Bloc's Gilles Duceppe ..to say the least he was in fine form speaking in french, eloquently stating the his party was the only choice for Quebec to prevent a consevative majority. We heard the usual talk about language and the constitution and Duceppe affirmed that he was still a separatist.. I guess no change here.

The plate-form I identify with the most was the NDP. They seem to be on the side of the middle class and the less fortunate. Jack Layton speaks french very well and carried on the debate, making points with his pleasing personality. Duceppe said that he didn't expect to be PM and neither should Layton. NDP needs to take a few seats from the Liberals and we might have a half decent coalition.

As for the Green Party and Elisabeth May .. they weren't invited.. so we didn't get to hear more of their plan ... too bad green is my favorite color.. in time they may have more of a chance if more people will vote Green. So will you be 18 or older this May 2? This will be the first time you get a chance to vote .. do so with your heart..

  Pour moi, la VRAI Question c'est : Si on veut débarquer Harper, il faut une majorité... Si on vote chacun de son côté (Vert, Bloc, NPD..) on va encore se retrouver avec un gouv. minoritaire... même si au Québec on a le Bloc majoritaire. Harper va encore faire des magouilles pour faire passer ses lois.... ministres qui mentent, profiter de l'absence de l'absences des autres députés, faire de l'overtime toute la nuit..etc.. Alors on fait quoi??? Suivre son feeling ou faire front commun?

  OK guys__ young and not so young __ get involved. Take a good hard look at the big issues: the Americanization of putting a $price$ on education and healthcare or keep our Canadian hard-fought for values of equal access for all to a decent education and medical care?Put the accent on more lucrative militarization contracts or put the accent back on peacekeeping for which Canada had established an admirable reputation? Why more prisons and for whom when, in reality, our actual crime rates have gone down? Prevention and rehabilitation are the way to go __ Quebec has set a standard to emulate here. And, the environment__ let's put it back on the front burner where it belongs. Without clean air and good water __ what kind of corporations will be attracted to invest in Canada? Why not make Canada the costa Rica of the north instead? To be continued

the Price of gas is rising every day.... 30% in the last 6 months. Not much choice except pay through the nose .. watch the specials, drive with only a half tank, for me that's 40$.. and slow down.. that's what I do to save fuel.

Not taking the van out everyday for a joyride is more the norm now for me .. some days I don't even start 'er up.

Us rural folk, the one the libs keep referring to in campaign2011, need our cars to get around.. distances are too great to hoof it or cycle, and half the time, the weather is too inclement.

How come? well it's a commodity, everyone needs fuel, so the price keeps going up. Everywhere in the world there's a growing demand so prices will continue to rise until..well .. there is no more. Billionaires are buying future production and storing it to create an even larger profit. We don't have the buying power as simple consumers, except maybe to join Costco .. In the mean time enjoy your ride ..

Some mornings it's just that way up before the sunrise and it's too cold for the dogs to go out .. the smell the air and turn back in. I make a pot of coffee and read my mail.. it's an hour later and the sun is up and Ziggy goes out first .. never both at the same time or they run off together .. I start the second pot of coffee and give a biscuit to Roxy who goes out after sonny comes back .. this morning she went out walked around the yard ate a piece of bread the birds didn't eat .. there hasn't beena bird at the feeder in a week and I haven't seen a squirrel for a while either..

This morning it's bluebox not garbage so I have to get my boots on and go out and move it to the edge of my street...

I've been broadcasting live music from my home studio over BlogTV since 27 Oct 2007 ... met a lot of people who shared the same interest .. collaborated with some and amused thousands of listners.
My old school buddy BlueBarry suggested I try ManyCam and sent me the dnld link from cNet So that I did and installed it on my tower. The software worked right away and I could operate two cams simultaneously. The main window can show one cam and the insert window show the other cam.. both at the same time. I could also run a video from my collection in the main window and have a cam operating in the insert.

Fire hall burns to the ground

The town is located about 75 km north of Montreal. Rawdon firefighters were left with little equipment of their own – even the fire trucks were trapped in the burning building. They eventually managed to safely drive the vehicles out of the still-burning fire hall.

The blaze started just before 9 p.m. About 40 firefighters fought the blaze, which burned long into the night.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

I was up at 06h00 and my outdoor thermometer read -20°C that's cold ... but not as cold as the newsblog read a little later as I settled down to a coffee and had a smoke nobody spoke but I went into a dream .. to paraphrase John Lennon .. where did all the money go? .. sobering as I watched video after video as they tried to explain schemes of the elite banksters and the very private Federal Reserve.
